With the end of GNER’s franchise imminent I’ve heard stories about people collecting whatever GNER memorabilia they can so they can sell it on eBay. I expect most of the interesting items will show up in the next few days after the franchise is over. Some recently completed auctions have included a presentation boxed set to celebrate the first anniversary of GNER in 1997 and an award presentation set of two cut crystal glasses.

UPDATED (19/12/07 07:00): GNER carriage crests have now appeared on eBay. Other items include GNER wine glasses, GNER chocolate coins (presented to customers travelling during the last few days of the franchise), and various other items.
Also of interest for those who travel KLM is the range of collectable KLM houses (huisjes) that are for sale or auction on eBay (RSS). The houses are presented to KLM business class passengers and are based on designs of buildings in The Netherlands. There’s currently 88 houses in the collection - one for every year of KLM’s existence.

As GNER was the last train company in the UK that adopted a traditional branding scheme I can see the value of GNER branded items increasing over the years. Therefore there’s certainly some bargains.

Also on eBay you can find items from LNER (who operated the East Coast route before nationalisation) and British Rail.
