VLM Launch Jet Services to Rotterdam
by JFC AdminVLM Airlines, the airline that operates the largest number of services from London City Airport, has announced an increase in capacity on their London - Rotterdam route.Previously VLM has exclusively operated turboprop Fokker 50 aircraft but will be adding a BAe 143-300 jet on 16th April 2007 which will provide an increase in capacity on the popular LCY - RTM services. This will provide additional Fokker 50 capacity for other routes on the VLM network. They currently operate 19 Fokker 50 aircraft with the plan to add a further two over the course of the year.
The Rotterdam route was VLM’s first route from London City to the Netherlands, with services to Amsterdam Schiphol and Groningen added later. VLM operates the most services to the Netherlands from London City competing strongly with Dutch carrier KLM on the Amsterdam route. Although technically a Belgian airline, VLM’s main hub is London City Airport.
