CityJet - New services from London City

by JFC Admin

Air France subsidary CityJet has announced a number of new services from London City Airport in addition to the services they currently offer to Dublin and Paris CDG/Orly.

The Air France press release lists the following new destinations: Geneva, Madrid, Milan (Linate), Nice and Zurich, They also plan to operate routes to Edinburgh, Dundee and Belfast through a partnership with ScotAirways.

The services are scheduled to start on 26th March 2007 but timetable information is not yet available so it’s not possible to book these flights yet.

This is good news for London based Flying Blue members as well as members of other SkyTeam frequent flyer programmes. It’s a major increase in direct destinations available from London where we can earn miles. Also the partnership with ScotAirways introduces the first UK domestic routes that you can earn Flying Blue miles with.

The routes to Belfast and Nice are the only routes that are new to London City. CityJet will be facing strong competition on all the other routes. Let’s hope this brings us quality service, fair pricing and plenty of mileage promotions.

[…] I mentioned a while ago about Air France by CityJet launching new services from London City. Most of these services are now fully operational. However, for reasons I’ve not yet been able to get an answer to the services to Edinburgh, Dundee and Milan Linate are still listed as ‘coming soon’. […]

[…] CityJet for Air France flight AF 5187 from London City to Nice. Arrived at the airport just before 1pm which was plenty of time before the 14:30 departure. Although I was checked in online I still needed to drop off the luggage (thanks to the rules about liquids meaning I have to check my dangerous contact lens solution in the hold). Dropping the bags off only took a few minutes as there was only one person in the queue. Security was quick, and I was sitting down to lunch less than 15 minutes after arriving at the airport. […]
