As well as the full range of flexible tickets many long distance train companies have a range of tickets with extra benefits for business travellers including parking and meals as well as frequent traveller schemes aimed at the high spending business traveller.
This section will eventually cover all the UK train companies that offer this service. The first train company covered is GNER.
GNER - Business Packages
GNER offers business packages aimed at both standard and first class passengers.Standard Business Package
This ticket is available in a day return option or one valid for return within the month. The day return ticket includes the cost of one days parking at the station, 2x£5 buffet vouchers and London Underground Zone 1+2 tickets. The monthly return ticket extends the parking to five days.Executive Package
The Executive ticket comes in a number of formats the most popular being the package that is valid a month both outward and return. Just like the first open return it is unrestricted and allows break of journeys in both directions. In addition you get two meal vouchers valid for breakfast or three course lunch/dinner in the on-board restaurant, 7 days station parking (many stations have dedicated executive parking spaces) and London Underground Zone 1-2 travel.
GNER - Frequent Traveller - GNERtime
GNER offers the GNERtime frequent traveller programme to high spending customers. To qualify you need to spend a minimum of £1,200 in a three month consecutive period on GNER travel. All tickets valid on GNER trains qualify except for standard class season tickets.The benefits are generous and if used fully may be worth more than the £1,200 spent to earn them. The benefits last for a year from start of the membership and you may renew at any time by sending in another £1,200 worth of tickets. The main benefits are:
- 2 for 1 drinks on board and in lounges
- Free half bottle of house wine with every two or three course meal (including meals paid for by GNERtime or Executive voucher)
- 2 for 1 first class GNERtime duo tickets
- Access to GNER first class lounges including one guest regardless of ticket type
- Six vouchers for two people to travel first class on GNER (reservation required)
- Two vouchers for one person to travel first class on GNER (reservation required)
- Three vouchers for breakfast in the on-board restaurant
- Three vouchers for a three course lunch or dinner in the on board restaurant
