Rail Travel

With the increased security at airports the use of rail within Europe is becoming a much more viable option. When you take into account the formalities such as check-in and security added to the fact that airports are usually further away means that often with flying you can add an extra two hous to your journey time in addition to time in the air. With stations located in the centre of the cities and frequent services rail travel can give you the flexibility you need.

Currently we provide links to booking services for UK rail journeys and cross channel on Eurostar. Soon we will be providing advice and booking links for other European rail services.

Eurostar

Eurostar offers a relaxing alternative to flying for travel between London and Paris or Brussels. The journey is city centre to city centre and takes approximately two and a half hours. When you take into account the time taken to travel to the airport and go through the formalities of check-in and the security checkpoints then Eurostar will often work out to be the quicker and more relaxing experience. Security and passport control checks are performed but these tend to be faster than that with the airlines so as long as you arrive 15 minutes before departure you can get your train. All passport checks are performed at the departure point so when you arrive you don't have to worry about queues. Booking can be performed via the Eurostar website, travel agents or from some of the larger National Rail stations.

First Class services are divided into Business Premier and Leisure Select. The Leisure Select tickets often represent good value if you book in advance and includes a 3 course meal on board (if you have any special dietary requirements please specify them at time of booking) and complimentary drinks. Business Premier offers the same on board service as Leisure Select but also includes lounge access at the stations, Business Premier tickets are also the most flexible tickets and are ideal if you're unable to commit to a certain train.

Standard Class services do not include any complimentary food or drink. However, each Eurostar service includes two well stocked cafe bar areas on board or alternatively you may bring your own refreshments.

As well as the direct services to Brussels and Paris, Eurostar also runs seasonal services such as to Ski resorts or Disneyland. Also a ticket to Brussels is valid for connection to any other Belgian station.
