Nectar is the reward scheme for Sainsbury's, Debenhams, BP and many other partners. The Nectar Credit Card is a great way to increase your Nectar balance. Apply now and if you're accepted you will get a bonus of 1000 Nectar points after your first purchase. You earn one Nectar point per pound spent in your everyday spending and two Nectar points per pound in Nectar retailers (this is in addition to the Nectar points you would get anyway, so £1 spent in Sainsbury's would total 4 points). As well as money off your shopping Nectar rewards can be exchanged for days out at various attractions throughout the UK, household goods, flights, rail travel and accommodation. Nectar points may also be donated to charity.

Card arrived today

The card arrived today, it took just over two weeks to arrive, came with some vouchers for Sainsburys too.

2 weeks

I'm going on holiday in two weeks, if I apply today am I likely to get my card before I leave?

Two weeks is cutting it

Two weeks is cutting it fairly tight but is possible if your application has no outstanding issues. It may pay to follow up your online application with a phone call a few days later to check on the progress of the application.

e-Stores

You indeed do get double points when you use your card in nectar partner shops such as Sainsburys savacentre, BP and debenhams, but you only get the regular amount of points when buying online from a nectar e-store. It's still a good card, but I thought people should be aware of that.

e-Stores are not real Nectar partners

The reason you don't get double miles on e-stores purchases is because the Nectar e-stores are not full nectar partners, they're just affiliates. Nectar gets a cut of any sale you make via their website and then they pass some of the commission onto you in the form of nectar points.

Credit limit

I thought american express were known to give high credit limits. I only got a limit of £4000 which ain't much better than what I got on my visa card

Nectar

One think to remember is that the points you earn on the card do not get credited to your nectar account immediately, they only get added to your account after the statement is issued. It's a good idea to remember this if your trying to top up you're balance

A good card

I live right near Sainsburies so I applied for this card as soon as it came out. It's much better than the old nectar barclayscard as this one gives more points.

The only problem is a lot of small shops still don't accept american express yet so it's worth carrying about a visa card just in case. However, most places, including rivals to sainsburies such as tescos and asda will happily accept the card, it's a great way to earn points and I'm going to use it to pay for my holiday.

I find acceptance of Amex to

I find acceptance of Amex to vary depending where in the country that you are. In London there's anough choice around that you can find plenty of places that accept the card, smaller cities like southampton are a bit harder to find places that take amex.

Amex seem good when spending abroad, I always get a better rate spending on my amex in euros than I do with a visa or a master card.

My solution to this is to have both a Necter amex card and a Sainburys visa card. Sainsbury's visa card gives you some nectar points but not as many as the Nectar amex. I use the visa in the places that don't take amex. This means I get nectar points on nearly everything that I spend.

Best of all, as both the cards are free and I pay of the bills in full every month I pay no charges or interest, but each month I have enough nectar ponits to get money off shopping.
